A Morning Routine in the Marina

Updated: May 19, 2021

Another morning routine, but this time it's SF-style. We're going to divulge the very best secrets into how to have the best morning in San Francisco's Marina District. Not to toot our own horns, but this might be the exact perfect morning routine you've been searching for!

Morning

Up and At 'Em

When your alarm goes off- and we know it will- try to not hit the snooze button! So many sources, like Reverie, say that hitting snooze disorients your body, and might even make your morning drowsiness worse. Why should you start off your day foggy and tired?

Pro-tip: setting your alarm a few minutes earlier than you think you need to, may give yourself ample time to get ready. As a result, you'll feel less rushed and stressed for your day. For those of you screen-starers, you could try to not reach for your phone when you wake up. Give your vision a break from its digital eye strain; take a moment to start your day off without looking at a screen.

Charge Your Social Battery

Energize your body the right way by replenishing it with H20. A glass of water can help kick-start your body's metabolism and rehydrate your body after a long night of sleep.

If you feel groggy or early-morning grouchiness, we recommend getting a little caffeine kick to boost yourself for the day. Opt to have some tea or coffee.

Recently, we've discovered some amazing "instant" coffee bags from Sightglass based right here in San Francisco! All you need is some hot water, and you'll have a quality cup of coffee made right in your own home that you can take on the go!

As per our articles that discuss healthy and intuitive eating, listen to your body! If you prefer to start off your daylight for when you're going to be out and about, then enjoy a slice of avocado toast, like the scrumptious sourdough offered by Toasty. On the other hand, if you're craving a not-so-light stack of french toast stuffed with bananas and topped with whipped cream and maple syrup, go for it. Zazie, on Cole Street, offers a scrumptious array of breakfast sweets.

Self-Care

Invest in yourself, and recognize the importance that self-care has in improving your overall health and wellness. Developing a self-care routine is simple, but an extremely powerful way to encourage you to do the things that matter the most.

Skin Care
"Invest in yourself."

Heliotrope San Francisco offers high-quality, all-natural, and organic products made right in Northern California. If you have remnants of last night's mascara, try this Five-Oil Eye Makeup Remover to gently remove makeup and leave your skin soft and supple. Prep your face for a day from the elements (stress, environmental damage, etc.) with the Aspen & Shea Butter Moisturizer.

As always, you should wear clothes that you feel comfortable in - whether it's the gray sweatsuit you already threw on yesterday or the new pair of blue jeans sitting in the back of your closet that you've yet to break in. A comfortable outfit can help you feel self-assured when you show up to all of your daily duties in something that makes you feel good.

Get Your Blood Pumping

If you have time to spare, do something to get your blood pumping. The Marina District has two parks - Lafayette Park and Alta Plaza Park - that you can spend some time at for any recreational activities you have in mind.

And take a walk on Union Street in Cow Hollow. With its mix of specialty shops, services, and restaurants, you're sure to find something that catches your eye. A few blocks away is the Russian Hill Bookstore, one of the city's last family-owned bookstores offering used and new books.

For our fitness class-lovers out there, the Marina District has a plethora of gyms, cycle shops, and yoga studios. The Pad Studios offers private and group yoga and pilates classes.

If you prefer to work out at home, consider trying out a highly-rated online pilates program by Let's Start Pilates. Let's Start Pilates, created by Hande Demirel Gultepe, provides video and e-book programs that allow you to participate in low-impact exercise lessons straight from your home!

"Regular physical activity not only improves your physical health, but your mental health as well."

Regular physical activity not only improves your physical health but your mental health as well. Exercising delivers oxygen and nutrients to your body, essentially providing you with abundant energy to tackle your daily tasks. Therefore, we strongly suggest carving out some time for a workout to release those endorphins.
